As of January 9. 2006, Ken Charpentier is the Executive Director of MARC, Inc. of Manchester. Ken is no stranger to the organization as he has been working for the organization since 1990. He first learned of and became interested in working for MARC, Inc. through Special Olympics with his wife and through his in-laws’ business, Tommy’s Pizza, which employed people MARC serves.

Ken has worked in a variety of positions, gaining valuable knowledge of MARC’s operations which will be instrumental in the position as Executive Director. He first started at MARC, Inc. as an employment specialist working closely with people served and offering support and job training to them. In 1993, he became an employment coordinator/developer enhancing job opportunities for our people served as well as for people in our TANF service. Ken then received another promotion in 1996 and became the Assistant Employment Director and then in1998, he became the Director of Services, who oversees all the operations of MARC Inc. and is the second in command.

Ken’s thoughts about MARC and its responsibilities to people with disabilities show that the organization has a strong future under his leadership:

“People we serve deserve the very best in life and it is our mission and responsibility to meet their individual needs and interests. Our philosophy and mission provide us the unique opportunity to use our creative talents to enhance people’s lives in so many ways. It is also our responsibility to assist people we serve to demonstrate their talents and value as members of our community. Each individual success breaks down stereotypes and barriers to true inclusion. It is our obligation to ensure that the future is better than the past for succeeding generations and that people we serve enjoy all our community has to offer. It is the degree to which our dedicated and professional staff can and do exceed expectations that sets MARC, Inc. apart as a truly exemplary human service organization.”

Besides working for MARC, Inc., Ken is very active throughout the community. He has been a Big Brother/Big Sister volunteer as well as a Christmas in April volunteer. He was also a Greater Manchester Chamber of Commerce Ambassador and as of January 2006, he started serving on its Board of Directors. Ken’s passion and dedication to helping others will be the foundation of his leadership of MARC and its continual enrichment throughout the coming years. Ken says that it is an honor to work with such talented, caring staff and Board of Directors and is looking forward to leading MARC.
