Building Design & Benefits

In response to the growth of programs offered by MARC, Inc. of Manchester and the limitations of our current facility, MARC plans to construct a 25,000 square foot building on a parcel of five acres of land in Manchester adjacent to the Post Office on Sheldon Road. Upon completion of this project, MARC, Inc. of Manchester will be able to build upon our legacy of providing opportunities to hundreds of families to overcome challenges faced on a daily basis.

On August 6, 2008 we purchased land on Sheldon Road for our new home. The new building will be designed to fulfill our anticipated needs for the next fifty years. For the first time in our fifty-six year history, we look forward to having a permanent home in Manchester.

West Side
South Side

The new facility will provide the following:

Additional accessible bathrooms outfitted with special lift equipment. With more people in the building having more bathrooms is
imperative and the equipment will benefit our aging
population.
Additional Senior Center Space With more and more people coming into the age of
retirement, more space will accomodate this growth.
Sensory/Physical/Occupational Therapy Room This type of space we were never able to have because of
space limitations, but we will now be able to provide these
very beneficial services.
Additional Space for Employment Training Because of MARC's great reputation for providing
outstanding employment services, we have experienced a
continuing growth pattern that this space will be able to
accomodate.
Additional Cafeteria Space The additional space will allow for more people to eat at one
time without having a number of lunch waves eating over a
long period of time.
More Conference and Training Space More space is needed for the increase in the number of
meetings. Also, currently our all day trainings are conducted
offsite and this will allow us to provide them inhouse.
Additional Space for Shredding & Vending These growing services need more designated space to
house the inventory and materials.
Shower & Laundry Areas
Additional Storage Space In addition to the storage space on the main floor, an attic
area will also house much of our long-term storage, which
will maximize the accessible space available for our services.
Outdoor Recreation Space We do not have any outdoor recreation space for everyone
at MARC throughout the day. This space can also be utilized
for special events such as our annual picnic that we currently
have offsite.
Ample Parking with Safe Designated Drop Off/Pick Up Areas
With three main entrances the flow of people during high
traffic times will be more manageable.
Space for Nursing A private area where our nurse can consult with people.
Environmentally Friendly Building This will cut down on utility costs, which will open up more
funds for the services themselves.
