With crisis comes generosity and heroic behaviors. A few weeks ago, masks were impossible to find, so our crafters came to the rescue using their home sewing machines to whip up some masks from a donation of fabric and elastic. A joint effort of a few staff, mothers of staff, relatives of persons served and volunteers from the community, we have manufactured more than 400 masks. This week a Farmington Valley Sewing Group presented us with 320 hand sewn masks and note, pictured here.
The kind words in this note uplift us and keep us focused on MARC's mission. But we want to say to all the sewers out there, YOU are OUR heroes. We have masks for our people served and our staff because of skilled sewers volunteering their time and energy and craft. Ask and ye shall receive. All we did was ask. YOU delivered.
